As you may know Jonny and some of the youth team have been running Deeper since August 2022, which is our discipleship and leadership programme for committed Christian young people in S4-S6.

One of the things we really want to see at St Mungo’s is our older youth, those who have been attending Deeper be provided opportunities to serve throughout the church.

From Sunday 14th January, every second Sunday of the month during term time will be a Sunday where those who attend Deeper have an opportunity to serve throughout the church.

Each young person has been matched to a ministry that suits their spiritual giftings and skills to serve on and could be one of the many Sunday morning teams. In addition to this, there will be opportunities to serve with midweek ministries also. The serving opportunities will be available in both both Balerno and Livingston

There are three main reasons for doing this:

Firstly, we want to see our youth be raised up now so they have opportunities to use and grow in their giftings amongst the church family.
Secondly, that our young people feel that they belong within the church family and can play their part using their talents and giftings.
Thirdly so that they can learn about the leadership that Jesus demonstrated while here on earth which was that of servant-hearted leadership. We have a lot of amazing volunteers who demonstrate this servant leadership every week and we believe have a lot to teach our youth as they serve alongside each other.

34 youth will begin serving and everyone is encouraged to support and encourage them in this new initiative, which we hope will positively impact the church's future.
