Magnitude

After two years without in-person summer festivals to look forward to, we are excited to announce that the youth will be attending Magnitude this summer. But what is it, and why should you be excited? Read on below and see how you can be involved in making it happen for our young people.

What is it?

Magnitude is a new event, run in partnership between SU Scotland and Powerpoint Scotland, taking over the legacy left by Soul Survivor, which held its last festival in 2019 following 26 successful summer camps. It sees young people from all over Scotland come together for five days of fun, laughter and time to hang out together as they learn about Jesus in a safe and relevant environment.

Where/when is it?

Magnitude is being held at the familiar Lendrick Muir venue in Kinross. Magnitude will be starting on the 23rd July 2022 and with the first meeting at 7pm that evening, so we’ll be arriving earlier in the afternoon to get our campsite set up. The event finishes on 27th July with the venues closing at 11.30pm that evening.

What does a day at Magnitude look like?

Each morning and evening, we’ll come together to worship Jesus, hear practical and engaging teaching from the Bible, and respond to what He’s saying to us. These main meetings are a safe space for us to encounter God, pray for one another and enjoy being a family. The rest of the programme is packed with activities, seminars, workshops and opportunities to hang out together. From outdoor activities to late night worship around a campfire, there’s really something for everyone. For the competitive among us we’ll be running sports competitions through the week, or, if chilling with a good book and a nice cup of coffee is more your vibe, there’s a bunch of cafes on site where you can kick back and relax. You’ll also have the opportunity to link up with a host of great organisations in the Epicentre Market. Whatever floats your boat, we promise you won’t be bored!

Who is it open to?

In terms of young people, we will be opening bookings very soon for our current P7’s to our current S6’s. There will be 25 places available, and this will be on a first come, first served basis so parents, please keep a close eye on your emails for booking details. We are just finalising the finite details to give you the price that it will cost to come with St Mungo’s Youth.

Do you need any help?

YES! We are very grateful to those who have already offered to help us out with the event, but we could still do with some additional help, whether that be with set up on the Saturday afternoon, set down on the Wednesday evening or with catering throughout the week, please do get in touch with Jonny, Lindsay or Caitlin if you can assist. We also need a couple of people to come and serve as part of the on-site youth team for the weekend. You do not need to be part of the main youth team to do this either! All we need are people who will be willing campers for five days and are happy to be relational with young people, looking to make the festival experience even more enjoyable for them! As stated, get in touch with the 0-18 team below if you can help!
