Would you like to join us on a mission trip to Eswatini in October 2023?
St Mungo’s values missionary work both home and abroad, with 15-20% of our income going to the work of mercy and evangelism. We love to see God’s Kingdom expand bringing transformation to individuals and communities around the world.
Up until 2019, we had regularly taken a team overseas, with Rwanda and Eswatini being the main destinations. We supported the work of Comfort International and Challenge Ministries Swaziland [CMS] – read more here about CMS.
We would love to take a team out to Eswatini in 2023. Below is a draft itinerary of what the trip would likely involve:
Depart Edinburgh on Thursday 5 October [either with BA or Qatar Airways].
Arrive Johannesburg on Friday 6 October where the group will travel by road into Eswatini [transport provided by CMS team]; briefing with CMS on arrival.
Saturday 7 October: Visits to the cultural village and a CMS project.
Sunday 8 October: Attend Potters Wheel Church; Travel to the village of one of the church plants to stay overnight for 2 nights.
Monday 9 October: Ministry in the village of the church plant [pre-school visit with games and songs; home visits; practical projects, etc].
Tuesday 10 October: Same as the Monday and then travel back to base later in the day.
Wednesday 11 October: Ministry and projects at Noah’s Ark [children’s project].
Thursday 12 October: Visit Men’s Rehabilitation Centre and Women’s Centre.
Friday 13 October: Visit Bulembu [Bulembu was once an abandoned town, but is being rebuilt to a thriving, sustainable community. Family-style children’s homes, top-level schools, a growing church and quality health services are supported by the development of commercial enterprises].
Saturday 14 October: Debrief with CMS team; Travel to Johannesburg Airport for overnight flight back to Edinburgh.
Sunday 15 October: Arrive back in Edinburgh.
The trip will include plenty of opportunities for practical work, prayer ministry, sharing God’s word through teaching and in our team meetings and having lots of fun.
The cost of the trip, at present, is approximately £1,500 [depending on flight costs at the time of booking and CMS ministry costs]. We can offer a subsidy to those who need financial help, for more details contact Wendy Brown or Katherine Burnett.
Mission trips provide an opportunity to meet tangible needs through serving and impacting communities, where love, mercy and justice are much needed. When teams come together it inspires generosity, grows our faith, compassion and care for people of all walks of life and seeds of hope begin to flourish. Being away on a mission trip is also where the church family experiences one another’s gifts.
To enable us to book flights at a good price, we will need to know numbers by Sunday 15 January at the latest, with a minimum team of 12 ideally needed to make this viable. We currently have a few people who are interested and if you’d like to express a note of interest or find out more about the trip, please contact wendy.brown@stmungos.org.
