We are excited to be launching Safar in St Mungo’s. Safar which means to ‘journey with’ has come out of the Iranian church which is one of the fastest growing churches in the world.
Safar is a one-to-one discipleship journey to help new believers or Christians who have been walking with Jesus for a while to develop Jesus’ lifestyle in their day to day lives. It is clear and easy to use and guides you through 30 Biblical steps – each designed to help us grow in relationship, go deeper in the word of God and prayer, and to put into practice what you’ve learned. Safar will help us as a Church family to encourage and support one another as we share life together and learn more about what it means to be a disciple of Christ.
We introduced Safar to the Balerno Company of Men last autumn and here are a few reflections from some of the guys who have been involved.
"The whole experience has been really positive, generating many thought-provoking, encouraging and helpful conversations. The material is very accessible and user-friendly. I have felt challenged in a very constructive way and I can see that my prayer life and bible study time has grown in quality and quantity as a result."
"Safar builds up gradually. Good refresher. Builds closer friendship/fellowship. Encourages personal reflection/growth”.
"It was a great opportunity to seek God and get to know my course buddy better. I thought the first book was fairly straightforward on discipleship, but it was a great refresher and reminder about walking closely with God. Funnily enough the Lord spoke to me and challenged me about several things from the first book which I am continuing to try to do."
