Emergency Appeal DR Congo - Thank you from Comfort International

In person Sunday morning church services: 3 October 10.30am at Heriot Watt for the Balerno  congregation.  We will use a QR code to comply with Test and Protect so pre-booking is not required. Please arrive between 10 and 10.15 in order to allow the auditorium to fill safely, young people to be dropped off at groups and everyone to check in. Youth in main service for worship. The Livingston congregation will meet at St Margaret’s on 10 October.  Services are live streamed.

Evening worship. There will be an hour of worship at 6.30pm on Sunday 3 October at Heriot Watt. This is not live streamed or on You Tube but is open to anyone to attend.

0-18 Sunday mornings: Pre-school and Primary groups will run during the live services (3 October is for the Balerno congregation).  You will be able to drop off and register your young person from 10.15.   Mighty Mungos continues online for those unable to attend.

Balerno Youth Sunday Morning Groups: On Sunday 3 October, Balerno Youth will meet in person at Heriot Watt University.  Youth will be in the main service in the auditorium for worship and will then head to their groups at around 10.55am.  Youth leaders will direct them to the youth seating area.  All in S1-S6 are welcome.  Then on Sunday 10 October, Balerno Youth will be back on Zoom, whilst the Livingston Sunday morning service is happening. The session will begin at 10.50am until 11.45am.  Zoom code will be emailed to parents.  

Friday Night Youth 8 Oct: 7.30pm - 9.00pm [please note the return to the new “normal” finish time]; indoor games night at the Church Building, Ladycroft, Balerno.  All S1-S6 welcome.  Pre-booking no longer required.  However, if your young person feels unwell on the day, please do not send them to youth.  More details will be posted on the Youth Instagram and Community Facebook page during the week.  Please remind your young person to bring a face covering.

Proposed service time changes.  Zoom meetings about the proposed service time changes are on Tuesday afternoon, evening or Wednesday evening this coming week.  Full details in email sent to all congregations.   Also a link to congregational survey has been emailed out, do respond  to this consultation.

Bethany’s Pass the Baton is a befriending service that helps to support men and women who have experienced homelessness or are at risk of becoming homeless.  The programme trains and equips volunteers from the local Church in the City to serve God in Edinburgh.  Bethany will be running online Zoom trainings sessions in October for Christians who want to become Befrienders in Edinburgh.  These will be held on Tues 12 Oct [7pm to 9.15pm] and Tues 19 Oct [7pm to 9.15pm].  To book a space register at Eventbrite:  https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/passing-the-baton-training-tickets-153504392771

OM Afghanistan Emergency Appeal: we have given another gift of £5,000 towards the continuing chaos in Afghanistan to provide practical aid for refugee families displaced by the crisis; bibles and literature in local languages to sustain believers and to support local Church networks.  Please continue to pray for God’s protection over this nation and the safety and protection of women in particular.
