As a church we want to bless, support and reach out to families during these summer holiday weeks. With thanks to households in Balerno who are displaying clues in their windows, we are hosting the Mighty Mungos Treasure Hunt. It’s a fun, free holiday activity for families with primary aged children and younger.
What’s the idea?
Earlier in lockdown we all enjoyed looking for rainbows in windows. Now we’ve got some clues hanging in windows and a map to follow. You can either download a pdf to print here or collect a paper copy from outside the St Mungo’s church building; our church offices (Ministry Centre 46b Bavelaw Road, Balerno) or from the phone box on Harlaw Road. Follow the stars on the map to find clues which spell out some cheesy summer-themed jokes. Once the treasure hunt is complete, people can email contact details and names of children to treasurehunt@stmungos.org and we’ll make sure they get a certificate, small sweetie prize and an invitation to join us in watching our wonderful Mighty Mungos episodes online.
What can I do?
Publicise – tell your friends and neighbours about it and invite them to join in! If you’re on Facebook you could share the post.
Participate – invite a family to walk round Balerno and do the Treasure Hunt with you… and use it as an opportunity to have great conversations at the same time!
Pray – for opportunities to connect with families in the wider community; that families will join in with Mighty Mungos online and for families to be strengthened and built up in these summer holiday weeks.
The clues will be in windows until 8th August so plenty of time to spread the word or give it a go! Have fun!!
