Report from Just Earth

St Mungo’s supports this work financially and in prayer.

The Directors of Just Earth have been meeting with the Kenyan Executive team every week (via Zoom) since the Covid-19 restrictions have been in force, to pray and keep updated with developments on the ground in Kenya.  We are pleased to be able to tell you that all our staff are in good health and functioning well in the circumstances. They are in regular contact with each other, our agricultural facilitators, farmers, vicars, and regional bishops, to ensure the work continues to help poor farmers produce better crops and are spiritually blessed.
When we were first notified of the lock-down in Kenya, it came shortly after we had supplied all of our farmers with their long rains agricultural inputs, leaving us wondering how these inputs were going to be best utilized, as the lock-down would mean we would be unable to gather the farm schools together each week for training. God has been so faithful and our staff have been amazing, who acted very quickly to provide a way for our facilitators to contact our farmers regularly by telephone, to guide them on what to do next and help them with any difficulties they might encounter. This new working environment has proved to be effective as early signs suggest our farmers are doing very well, despite the difficulties. God has also been so good sending the rains (just in time), which are so important.

Thank you for your continued support and please join us in praying for:

  • The safety and shielding of our staff, contractors, farmers, local spiritual leaders and their families, from the virus and its effects.

  • Guidance and wisdom in finding the best ways of adapting to these restrictions and to be as effective as possible in mitigating their impact, both from a food security and a Spiritual perspective.

  • Harvests not to be seriously impacted by the lack of direct teaching, as Farmers FFS members are instructed over the phone.

  • Markets to be found for the produce which has been so successfully grown in our recently established commercial farm.

  • Us at Just Earth  to learn from this challenging time and become spiritually stronger.
