The Turning

Last year St Mungo’s took part in the Turning Scotland here in Edinburgh.  The Turning’s vision is to see every believer across Scotland equipped to share the Gospel and trained to disciple those who respond.  Over 20 churches were involved, and at the end of the 8 days outreach, with a total of only 1 hour per day on the street, we saw 852 respond to the Gospel in Aberdeen, Glasgow and Edinburgh.

The exciting news is that from the 22 August to 1 September the Turning will be running again in Edinburgh.  This is an amazing opportunity for you to get trained to go out on the streets and engage people with the Good News.  Each morning there is training for both the street evangelism and the follow up for those who have responded.  Once trained you will then go out on the streets with someone who has gone out before, which is also a great way to learn and build your confidence.

Last year over 50 members of St Mungo’s attended at least one of the morning outreaches which is amazing, but I would love to see more taking part this year.  There are two reasons why: Firstly, you will see the power of the Good News as people respond to the Gospel, and secondly it will give you a confidence to share the Gospel with others.

The Turning will launch in Edinburgh on Thursday 22 August with an evening of worship and prayer at Destiny Church in Gorgie at 7:30pm and will run until Sunday 1 September.

The schedule throughout the Turning is roughly the same:

Morning Sessions: Each morning starts at 9:15am with training and then worship at 10am.  The outreach will be finished by 1pm after a time of feedback. The venue will be Life Church, W Richmond St, Edinburgh EH8 9EB

Evening Sessions: Each evening (apart from Saturdays 24 and 31 August) there will be worship, prayer and the opportunity to hear what God has been doing.  The venue is Destiny Church Gorgie from 7:30pm to 9:30pm.
