Walk for water with St Mungo's and Tearfund

Every year the children in St Mungo's try to focus on a particular mission partner to learn about, pray for and raise money for.

This year we are inviting all primary-aged children and their families to join in trying to walk as many miles as we can, to raise money for Tearfund who are seeking to dig wells in the communities of Ethiopia who have no water. Children in these villages often walk up to ten miles just to get a bucket of dirty water for their families and Tearfund are seeking to build village wells to help them.

Between now and 25th October, children will decide how far they think they can walk (10, 20, 50 miles…) then ask family and friends to sponsor them. Together we will log how far we have walked and how much money we have raised.

There are about 100 children in Livi Kids/Adventurers/Xplorers – if we each walked ten miles that would be 1000 miles all together!

Perhaps you are a parent reading this – thank you for joining in! Perhaps you are a grandparent – can you sponsor and encourage your family? Maybe someone in your housegroup or street has primary aged children in St Mungo’s – could you sponsor them? Or even join them for a (socially distanced) walk. That would make a great Sunday selfie….

We may not be meeting together but activities like this help the children to remember that we in St Mungo’s are family. We can still do things together in these challenging times and together, we can make a real difference.
