During this difficult season in our world I suspect all of us will have been experiencing, to one degree or another, some of the following: loss, anxiety, loneliness, sadness, anger and relationship struggles. In the St Mungo’s Wellness Centre we are called to bear one another’s burdens and be good news to our local community - and this is certainly needed today. When people are feeling overwhelmed, counselling helps them to become aware and make sense of what they are feeling. It brings relief and leads to a place of acceptance, strengthening them for the future.
I always knew we had a very special group of counsellors in the Wellness Centre but I have never before been more proud of them as I am in this season. Many clients feedback that they feel warmth, sensitivity and compassion from their counsellors. I can add that over the past few months they have also demonstrated immense courage and willingness to make themselves available to learn and practice a new mode of counselling. Since 23 March all of our counselling has been remote using Zoom, Skype or phone.
Amazingly, between 23 March and 5 June,
57 clients have been seen amounting to almost 500 counselling hours!
Please continue to pray for this Ministry of our church:
For our counsellors as we seek to be Jesus’ hands, feet, listening ears and heart of compassion and bring his words of comfort, peace and love to others.
And for our clients of all ages: children, young people, adults, couples.
The Wellness Centre is now closed over the summer. Please email lifeandsoul@stmungos.org if you would like to be seen after 17 August.
