Youth Weekend Away Prayer points

After two long years, it is with great excitement that we are now under two weeks away from once again heading away as a St Mungo’s Youth for a Weekend Away!

We are going to be combining our own residential weekend with a national Youth Event, Limitless One. Limitless One sees events happen in eight locations around the UK, on the same night, at the same time showing that the Christian family is not limited to our own wee bubbles but instead showing that something much wider is happening in this generation around the UK. At the event, there will be a silent disco, followed by worship from the Ignite Youth Band, along with a talk from our Guest Speaker Tim Alford, who heads up the Limitless movement. I have personally been involved with Limitless events since 2013 and know how powerful and incredible God moves during these events and am expecting more of the same this time!

As mentioned above, it is not just the Limitless One event we will be attending. We are going to combine attending this event with our very own residential weekend, staying at the Bible Centre in Inchinnan where we will have our own meetings on the Friday Night and Saturday and Sunday mornings, as well as plenty of time to hang out and enjoy spending time as a Mungo's youth family, something we've not had the opportunity to do for a long time now! I am delighted to say that Tim Alford will be joining us on the Friday Night to speak to our youth specifically and we have recent St Mungo’s Youth Graduate Kate Millar joining us to share on the Saturday morning. I will then close our weekend with a service on the Sunday morning. Our theme for the weekend is One: challenging our young people to explore how to be one with God, as well as how to use their individual giftings as part of one massive family for God on this earth.

On the Saturday we will also have a trip to Braehead with the young people having chosen different activities to partake in and there are plenty of other fun and games throughout the weekend planned, including a Winter Olympics inspired competition on the Saturday! As I write this, we currently have 32 young people booked in for the weekend and we hope to have close to 40 by the time bookings shut this coming Monday (31st January) so if you’re reading this before that date, it’s not too late to get signed up!

Some quick prayer points for the whole church to be praying for would be:

·       That our young people feel a real unity being away together as a St Mungo’s Youth family, given the time it’s been since the last time we were able to have a weekend away.

·       That our young people meet Jesus, either for the first time or in a fresh way over the course of the weekend

·       For protection from COVID and any other illnesses for all involved from young people to team to guests and that is everyone is able to go and return home fit and healthy.

·       For energy, excitement and expectation for our fantastic team of leaders who are serving over the weekend

·       For Mark, Emma and the catering team as they get used to a new kitchen and site and that everything will run extremely smoothly in the Kitchen

·       For Tim, Kate and Jonny as they prepare their talks and for those involved in worship, that God will inspire them with the right words/songs for the weekend

·       Finally, for all the little logistical things as I finalize the finite details of parts of the weekend away
