Will the proposed new building provide space for future growth, and how big will it be?
We are still in the initial phases of the project and have not yet determined the specific requirements for the new building. There are several factors to take into account, and we will collaborate closely with the architect to assess how we are using our current space and to plan for future needs.
When will we have drawings of the new building?
There is a great deal of work that takes place with the architect before drawings are prepared. It’s expected that we’ll see the first drawings in early 2025 but will provide updates over the next couple of months.
Will the Wellness Centre remain as it is or be incorporated into the new building?
Our current thinking is that the Wellness Centre would be incorporated into the new building, but this will be explored in the design phase.
Do you envision a cinema style auditorium or flat area?
We will soon begin working with an architect to determine our building needs. Once these needs are gathered, we’ll have a clearer idea of how the building might be designed. Nothing has been decided yet regarding the new building, though it’s unlikely that there will be a cinema style auditorium. We will consult with the Church Family, ministry volunteers, and staff to identify our requirements before creating a design.
Will there be car parking?
The space available means that there is likely to be only limited parking available.
While this is in line with the Edinburgh Local Development Plan to reduce car use, this is something that we are aware may not be ideal. Currently there is on road parking on Bridge Road, but this could change in the future. This will be something that we explore further as we work with the architect, landscape planner and transport planner in this next phase.
