Vestry recently approved the following year end gifts totalling £18,400 from the World Mission Fund, in light of having additional funds available for distribution at the end of this financial year.
£2,000 to Open Doors UK https://www.opendoorsuk.org.
£2,000 to International Justice Mission [IJM] https://www.ijm.org.
[Both Open Doors UK and IJM received a one-off gift last year and it’s our desire is to continue to support their ministries of serving the persecuted church and working to bring an end to slavery and human trafficking respectively, which is not currently covered by our main mission partners.]
£1,000 to Reach Beyond https://reachbeyond.org.uk/, the organisation supporting Gavin & Heather Falconer from the Livingston congregation, currently in Ecuador.
£2,500 to Starfish Asia for a special request to help with finishing internal building work of Holy Field School.
[Starfish Asia now supports 48 schools with the vision to raise the skills and hopes of communities that have been marginalised and discriminated against. This gift will contribute to the remaining costs of £18,000 approx to enable the school to stay open, which currently has 302 students attending.]
£2,500 to Tearfund in response to the Ethiopia Hunger Crisis Appeal https://www.tearfund.org/campaigns/ethiopia-emergency-appeal.
£1,200 top-up to each of our 7 main mission partners [Bethany Christian Trust; Challenge Ministries Swaziland; Comfort International; Holy Trinity Wester Hailes; SU Scotland; Tearfund and Wycliffe Bible Translators].
Our mission partners work miracles in extremely difficult situations and circumstances and often with limited resources – financially and volunteers. We pray that they would call Psalm 147 to mind in their ministries: 2 The Lord builds up Jerusalem; he gathers the exiles of Israel. 3 He heals the broken-hearted and binds up their wounds. 4 He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name. 5 Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit.
